Step off the cobbled Royal Mile and into the warm embrace of Scotland’s soul at The Tolbooth Tavern this Fringe season.
We're throwing open our historic doors for a night steeped in poetry, flavour and Highland charm - an ode to the Bard of Ayrshire, Rabbie Burns.
Date: Tuesday, 12th August 2025
Price: £43 per person
The Evening Begins:
Step into the festivities and be welcomed by the stirring sound of our piper Chris, an accomplished piper from Lanarkshire, with over 30 years of experience performing in top Scottish pipe bands and winning major championships. A serving police officer and member of the renowned Glasgow Police Pipe Band, he balances music with a decorated 18-year career in law enforcement. Guests will settle in and the Selkirk Grace sets the tone with a humble blessing to honour the Scottish dinner ahead.
To Start
Warm up with a bowl of Cullen Skink, our creamy, smoky seafood soup made the traditional way. It's comfort in every spoon.
A Dram and a Declaration
Witness the ceremonial Address to a Haggis, delivered with fire and flourish, accompanied by a dram of Craigellachie whisky that’ll make the Bard himself nod in approval.
The Main Event
Feast on Scotland’s finest - haggis, neeps, and tatties - prepared as tradition dictates. No frills, just full flavour and heart.
The Words of Burns
Let the evening take a lyrical turn as we share “Tam O’Shanter,” a spirited telling that dances between humour and horror in true Burns style.
A Sweet Farewell
Finish with our homemade Scottish cranachan - layers of whipped cream, toasted oats, local raspberries and a dash of whisky that celebrates the best of the Highlands in dessert form.
